Board Chairperson's Message:
Dear Merdinian Community,

Welcome to the 2026 – 2027 school year! I’m incredibly honored to be Chairman of the Board of Directors, building on the last four years of being Board Treasurer. As a board member, I’ve seen firsthand the incredible synergy between our administration, faculty, parents, and visionary supporters. Together, we are doing more than just operating a school; we are fulfilling a mission to nurture the next generation of Armenian leaders.
My Merdinian story starts nearly four decades ago when my grandfather, Bedros Amloian, started work there as a Physical Education Teacher. After spending 9 formative years there myself, I’m humbled to have the opportunity to serve a part of this wonderful institution’s story.
This year, we completed Mrs. Arpi Avanesian's first year as Principal, and we’re incredibly thankful for her dedicated efforts. Together, we have identified key areas of strength to nurture, as well as opportunities for continued growth. We’re also deeply grateful to Mrs. Shogher Shanoian for her steadfast dedication as Assistant Principal. Shogher exemplifies the selflessness, work ethic, and passion that define the very heart of Merdinian.
Our dedicated Board of Directors continues to partner closely with our administration to advance the school’s mission. In an ever-changing world, it's imperative that we evolve our ways of learning to accommodate new technologies and teaching methods. We are committed to preparing our students for that future while staying rooted in our heritage and faith.
Thanks to your unwavering generosity, the Board has been able to undertake significant improvements to our campus and make strategic investments in our academic programs. Every decision we make is guided by a singular focus: ensuring our students have the most enriching environment possible to reach their full potential. We recognize that the strength of our school lies in the unity of its people. As we embark on this next chapter, we invite you to remain actively engaged. Your investment in our school is an investment in the future of our community.
As a Christian Armenian school, Merdinian stands on the foundation of integrity, empathy, and service. These values are lived every day by our students, teachers, families, and community.
For 45 years, Merdinian has been a beacon of academic excellence and spiritual growth, nurturing minds while honoring our Armenian identity and Christian values. Together, we continue to build on that proud legacy and look toward a bright future for generations to come.
Thank you for being part of the Merdinian family. I look forward to a year filled with growth, achievement, and joy.
Peter Amloian
