General Summary:

This position is responsible for the instruction of Elementary and Middle School Level students in the core subjects of English, Math, Science, and Social Studies.

Essential Functions:

Plan, prepare and implement lessons and materials for classes and activities.
Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests.
Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions, and hands-on activities.
Maintain communication with students and parents on their progress in the class.
Attend faculty meetings and serve on committees as requested.
Closely monitor student learning in order to understand how students are progressing toward the learning objectives and provide students with instructive and timely feedback that will move their learning forward.
Establish a classroom environment that is safe and supportive, risk-taking is encouraged, students feel free to contribute their ideas, and teacher and student interactions are respectful and polite to promote a positive learning environment for all students.
Provide clear behavior expectations for students and monitor student behavior throughout the class and school campus.
Follow established policies and procedures for reporting incidents (e.g., child abuse, etc).

Requirements
Required/Desired Qualifications:

Excellent communication skills.
Ability to compose and comprehend written communication.
Strong commitment to being a part of a collaborative team with colleagues and administration.
Ability to work effectively and sensitively with all constituencies involved in a school; students, parents, and faculty.
Ability to work effectively with students, parents, staff members, and community representatives in providing a rigorous educational program.
Familiar with technology and basic computer programs.
Understanding of the physical, intellectual, social, and emotional developmental growth patterns of students.
Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s Degree and Teaching Credentials are strongly encouraged.
